Pomona’s Promise

Sarah Ross, a cherished and dedicated educator in the Pomona Unified School District, touched the lives of her students with love, and the belief that every child can succeed. Sarah was an inspiration to her students, and was the founding member of the Learning Expo and Science Fair. This scholarship is given lovingly in her name.
Read this page very carefully, all rules must be followed exactly as written.

Eligibility: All Pomona Unified School District college bound 12th graders.

Application: Submit an essay of no more than 500 words describing your interest in science, engineering, and/or mathematics and how you plan to utilize those interests and skills in the future. You may include those who inspired your interest and any challenges you may have faced.

Award: $1,000.00 will be awarded to 3 science and 3 math or engineering applicants.

Applications must be submitted by the first week in April of your graduation year.

Scholarship award winners will receive a scholarship VOUCHER giving instructions to requesting funds.

Award winner VOUCHERS will be distributed on first Sunday in May at the Ross / McCracken Learning EXPO at Fairplex.

All Winners are expected to attend the Ross / McCracken Learning EXPO 1pm -3pm to be presented the scholarship.
If a winner does not attend the scholarships will be forfeited, no exceptions.

Deadline for submitting your application is February 13th, 2019

If you are unable to access the application above you may submit your application via email to paa@paa1.org.
The email must include the following information.

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • E-Mail Address
  • Your PUSD ID #
  • The High School you are attending
  • Name of College or University you hope to attend in the fall
  • 500 Word Essay

Any submission missing any of the above information will not be considered, no exceptions.


Once winners are selected the form below can be used to request funds.

All Scholarship winners MUST submit a request of funds by December 31st of the scholarship award year or the scholarship will be forfeited, no exceptions.
